Canoeing

To end our Labor Day weekend, Paul and I took the girls out in the canoe. Alex decided he didn't want to go. I think he likes his alone time. He gets to play video games or watch movies without his sisters getting in the way.

We went behind the Bow High School to the pond that's outback. Paul said there was quite a few people there. I guess everyone wants to get some last minute summer time in before the cooler weather hits.

So, we got in the canoe and off we went. The first thing Madison did was try and stand up. Paul and I had to keep on telling her to sit down. She started to get fussy and then she fell asleep in the canoe. I used my life jacket as a pillow so she would be a little more comfortable. Madison took about an hour and a half nap! When she woke up, she was a different person.

While Madison was sleeping we just paddled around the pond. We would paddle against the current and wind and then just drift towards the other side of the pond. It was so nice out on the water. Paul and I could have a conversation without anyone interupting us....it was nice! We kept Lauren occupied with the paddle. She loved trying to paddle the canoe :) She was also fascinated with the lily pads and the white flowers floating on the pond.

Once Madison woke up she wanted to paddle too. So, that left Paul and I without paddles :( It was tough trying to get the paddles away from the girls, they were having so much fun. We had to though. It started to sprinkle so we paddled in and then I ran and got my camera (I didn't want to bring it out on the water) to take a few pictures before it was time to get out.

Of course the fun didn't end out on the water. Once we got out of the water Lauren insisted on peeing in the woods. She would not give up. So, I had to take her in the woods to go pee....that was an adventure in itself. When nature calls you have to do what you have to do.
What a nice way to end the summer :)

What a nice end to the summer! That's funny they enjoyed the oars so much. And what a laugh about Lauren and the woods. So cute.
